About Me

”People may not remember exactly what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel."

~Maya Angelou

The great Maya Angelou said, ”People may not remember exactly what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel." There must be something about St. Louis women because fellow native and creative Michelle L. Artist exemplifies these words.

Michelle L. Artist, founder and creator of Aroused by Art, is an eclectic and revolutionary visual artist who has been servicing her community and home for 30 years. Her art ranges from oil, acrylics and textures to photography that transforms every person who is touched by her lens into their best selves. She has photographed everyone from all walks, races, and ethnic groups because her purpose is to heal humanity.

Michelle said, ”I am art. I care about humanity, all humanity.” Though she is noted for being an active participant in speaking on injustices of black and brown individuals, she is known for her intentional love and care for the human spirit. “We all need each other to be great. Our greatness comes from realizing that loving each other is what we need to.”

She loves a quote from Dr. Cesar A Cruz when he said, ”Art disturbs the comfortable and comforts the disturbed.” Michelle is necessarily disruptive in the most beautiful way. Settling for less than who you are, less than what you deserve, and less than what the Creator has for you is not an option. When she photographs you, the observer is required to see their beauty. When you see her visual art, your soul is required to remember its purpose. When you and graced with her presence, you are reminded that you matter.
